I started my legal career as a Public Defender with the philosophy that legal
advice and zealous advocacy should be accessible to everyone. Early on in my
career, I became very comfortable in the courtroom and adopted a “Nolle Pros or
Not Guilty”* approach when the prosecution left my clients with no other options.

Once Prosecutors saw we were serious about litigating, they suddenly become
more willing to negotiate on future cases.

As a former Public Defender, I have learned to figure out my clients’ priorities
early in order to tailor our desired outcomes to those priorities. If you can review
a case for the first time with the end goals already in mind, then you can develop
legal strategies sooner.

Today, I transfer those skills to the practice of family law. I take an intentional
approach to communication by breaking down complex legal concepts into more
digestible terms in order to better explain litigation strategies. It’s often easy and
very tempting to get lost in the weeds when fighting the small battles along the
way. I try to keep my clients oriented on our end goals by reminding them to keep
the big picture in mind and not to lose sight of the forest for the trees.
