Brightline Expands to Boca Raton

No longer will Brightline’s South Florida stops be limited to just Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

Brightline has partnered with the transportation leader Virgin Group, and the trains will be re-branded as Virgin Trains USA.

The new and efficient trains are already a tremendous asset in South Florida, and ridership continues to grow. But building more stations increases the rail’s connectivity and will reach many more potential riders.

According to local sources, the higher speed train will be servicing the Boca Raton station no later then late this year in 2020.

Where Will the New Stations Be Located?

Ben Porritt of Virgin Trains has stated that Boca Raton, Port of Miami and Aventura are the rail’s top priority. Other stops are also being considered, such as the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

In just a short time South Floridians may have access to an urban rail system that begins to resemble that of Europe’s, with trains having numerous stations in the downtown areas of Miami, Adventura, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.

With added service to the port of Miami and the Ft. Lauderdale airport, a passenger could arrive by cruise ship or plane and take the train to their downtown destination.

South Florida commuters can purchase monthly commuter packages, similar to those available to commuters in other major U.S. metropolitan areas.

These are extraordinary benefits to South Florida residents and tourists alike, and it’s all the more exceptional in light of the fact that Brightline started service as recently as January 2018.

Tickets for some routes may not be considered inexpensive by some. But if viewed in light of the full cost of owning and driving a car, along with the added benefit of being able to accomplish tasks while traveling, many will consider the train’s cost to be a true value.

What Other Benefits Will Virgin Train Bring?

It’s not only the riders, who will no longer suffer through the misery of their daily commutes, that benefit from these clean and modern trains. It’s also helping those that continue to use cars by taking automobiles off South Florida’s heavily congested roads. Speaking of Tri-Rail, a public rail system with stations generally located close to I-95 and away from downtown areas, South Florida Transportation’s Authority Steven Abrams states that “..every rider we have on the train is one car off I-95.”

Local businesses stand to benefit too.

The ease of going back and forth to and from various points brings more guests to various services such as restaurants and entertainment venues. Equally important, employees can consider working for companies in areas that previously would be too time-consuming to reach, and employers have access to a greater talent pool.

There may be fewer accidents.

How?

It’s simple math: fewer cars on the road means fewer cars to get into accidents. It’s more than that, though: less congestion also means fewer situations that could result in an accident.

The first car accident occurred in 1891, and accidents will continue to happen in the foreseeable future: there are just so many variables in driving a car.

What should you do if you’re in an accident? If you’re hurt, call emergency medical services. But don’t assume that you’re not hurt just because you don’t need an ambulance. Many injuries don’t manifest until well after the accident.
